What We Offer
At Vestibular Rehab Dublin, we prepare specialist medico-legal reports for cases involving vestibular disorders, concussion, post-traumatic dizziness, and balance injuries. These are conditions that are frequently misunderstood in the legal setting — our reports provide the clinical clarity needed by solicitors, courts, and insurers.
We are instructed in personal injury claims arising from road traffic accidents, head injuries, falls, and other traumatic events where vestibular dysfunction or concussion is alleged. Our lead physiotherapist, Daniel Quinn, is a Chartered Physiotherapist with advanced training in vestibular therapy (Pittsburgh) and extensive medico-legal experience in this specialist area.
All reports are prepared by CORU-registered Chartered Physiotherapists and members of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP). Reports are accompanied by a signed declaration of independence confirming the expert's overriding duty is to the court.

Why a Specialist Vestibular Report
Vestibular injuries are among the most commonly overlooked and misunderstood in personal injury litigation. Symptoms such as dizziness, imbalance, visual motion sensitivity, and chronic unsteadiness can be profoundly disabling - yet they are often dismissed as minor or subjective in the absence of specialist assessment.
A report from a specialist vestibular physiotherapist provides the legal team with:
∙ Objective clinical evidence of vestibular dysfunction using validated assessment tools and posturography ∙ A clear explanation of the injury mechanism and how it relates to the index event ∙ An expert prognosis informed by current vestibular rehabilitation evidence ∙ Quantification of functional impairment - including impact on driving, working, and daily activities ∙ A credible, court-ready opinion from a clinician with specialist training in this area
Daniel Quinn, our lead physiotherapist, holds an Advanced Vestibular Therapist designation from the University of Pittsburgh — one of the world's leading centres for vestibular rehabilitation research and training.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What makes a vestibular medico-legal report different from a general physiotherapy report? Vestibular conditions require specialist assessment tools that are not part of a standard physiotherapy examination — including eye movement testing (with Frenzel goggles), positional testing, and computerised posturography. A specialist report provides objective, quantifiable evidence of vestibular dysfunction that a general report cannot.
2. Can a vestibular injury be caused by a road traffic accident? Yes. Head trauma, whiplash, and concussion can all cause vestibular dysfunction, including BPPV, labyrinthine concussion, and vestibular hypofunction. Our reports address causation directly and explain the mechanism of injury in terms the court can understand.
3. How long does the clinical assessment take? A comprehensive vestibular medico-legal assessment typically takes 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the complexity of the presentation and what testing is required.
4. Do you accept instructions from both plaintiff and defence? Yes. We accept instructions from both plaintiff and defence solicitors, and from insurers. Our reports are prepared independently, and our overriding duty is to the court.
5. Can you provide a report based on records review only? Yes. In some cases, a records-based report is appropriate - for example, when a counter-schedule or critique of a treating clinician's records is required, or where a physical examination is not possible. Please contact us to discuss your specific requirements.
6. What is the typical turnaround time for a report? Reports are typically issued within 2 to 4 weeks of the assessment date. Expedited reports may be available in certain circumstances — please contact us to discuss.
7. Are you available for joint expert meetings? Yes. We are available to participate in joint expert meetings with opposing experts, and to provide supplemental reports following joint expert discussions.
